Those are great clips and Randy does have a great sound, but that isn't an Encore. It's kind of the Encore's first cousin.
Randy's guitar is a one of a kind special completely handmade by Bruce Zumsteg. It's the same basic idea as the production Encore but there are quite a few differences. Randy's guitar is the one that finally convinced us to go ahead with the Encore project. We had kicked the idea around for years and finally decided that the time was right for this compact lightweight high performance guitar. |

That has a nice full sound. What pick up does he have on that? _________________ Zum Encore, Zum Stage One, Fender 2000, Harlan Bros., Multi-Kord, |

Super band and the steel's tone is wonderful. It's great to hear a steel that is not covered up with reverb and delay too. _________________ Emmons D-10, ST-10,LD-10 III, NV-112,Fender Deluxe Reverb. Authorized wholesale dealer musicorp.com! |

Is the Encore's sound as good as this first cousins sound? Was anything compromised in the production model? Are we talking apples and oranges here?
Sure was not my intent to mislead or confuse anyone... It sounds wonderful! |

I have an Encore on order with Doug, and I know they come with either the Wallace TT or a Humbucker. I chose the TT. _________________ Zum Encore, Zum Stage One, Fender 2000, Harlan Bros., Multi-Kord, |

Dick, if you were to sit in front of Randy Beavers playing his guitar and he were to then plug in an Encore and play the same thing, I am willing to bet that you couldn't hear a nickels' worth of difference.
I believe Randy's guitar was equipped with a TrueTone single coil when it was built, I do not know for a fact that it is still on there. I offer those as standard equipment on the Encore or you can also choose my standard custom humbucking pickup.
I don't think you could say that there were any compromises made on the Encore considering that they only cost $1499 with three pedals and five levers, triple raise triple lower changer, chromed steel adjustable legs, Grover keys, hard rock maple body, best quality formica, good case, etc., etc. I don't know that Bruce Zumsteg ever designed anything that had a compromise where performance was involved. |

I knew that Doug, and was just emphasizing the point. I believe the Encore is the best value out there. My opinion... |

Thanks for the kind words, Dick. Best value was the whole point of the Encore project.
John, wouldn't it have been cool if they could have featured Gary Carter and Randy Beavers on a twin steel number? |

The guitar has the Wallace TT on it with 17.5k. I changed it out for a bit with an Alumitone but got to missing that single coil sound. In those videos it is the TT.
Before Doug posted earlier I was going to say that I doubt I could tell much, if any difference in sound between my guitar and an Encore.
Here's another video where the amp is a rented Nashville 400, also with the TT pickups.

Then here's this one through a Webb.

All in all, the guitar sounds great through everything I've plugged it in to. |

I agree Kevin. Randy's great playing kind of makes the pickup and amp irrelevant. _________________ Zum Encore, Zum Stage One, Fender 2000, Harlan Bros., Multi-Kord, |

What can I add to those expressive words already stated. This is a singing steel guitar played by a master of the craft and lesser mortals such as I can only be encouraged and aspire to a higher standard. JAMES TAYLOR SCOTLAND |

Doug, I have been extremely pleased using my Stage One in Beijing but wish you could offer, as an as an option, those sliding clamps that secure the pedalboard to the the front legs rather than the long bolts which are part of the board that need to be threaded through holes in the legs and held by the small wing nuts.
Here is a photo that shows the pedalboard that clamps to the legs. It is from a Devis steel. stevet

Just received my Encore last Friday, after some major confusion on my part and minor adjustments to my amp, I can tell you it is a 'sweet' sounding guitar. You won't be disappointed. |

I'm loving my brand new Encore. It sounds and plays great. But what does one expect. It's designed by Bruce Zumsteg and built by Doug Earnest. Recorded a couple tunes direct to the board today in Buffalo and it sounded wonderful. No more questions for me. Now to sell something and get the Triple neck back. _________________ Johnny "Dumplin" Cox
