John, looked at this one, seemed to be set up to take six pedals, although there only seemed to be three pedals physically in pics.It went for £671, so probably by the time you purchased and fitted knee levers it would have been round about £1000.Who knows what else had been "modified " on it.

John, a 6139 model, which were E9 setups but the model number may be slightly different for this one.
I've seen pictures of a couple of these before. They were setup for C6. They generally didn't have any knee levers and that's why there are/were 6 pedals placed more toward the center of the pedal bar.
Anyone feel free to correct me on this.

I think the 6 pedal C6th set up was the 6140 model if I am remembering correctly.

| even though it's a moot point, this would have been a good steel to simply add three knees using three of the existing racks. looks good. |

Mine has 6 pedals and two right knees. That's eight racks, so three pedals and five knees would be a piece of cake! My late '74, not R&B now has 6 levers.
Get a couple/three more racks, levers and brackets, and the ball-ended linkage rods, no sweat, as the back shelf is nice and wide. Awesome-sounding guitars.

Jim Eaton nailed it--a 6140. And as John B. says, these are easy to upgrade to 4 knees and 3 or 4 floor pedals. 6139's and 6140's are the same guitar with just a different undercarriage setup, and very easy to upgrade. These guitars are a real sleeper with awesome shobud tone.
We make all the upgrade parts to do such a conversion. barrels, pullrods, knee lever kits, knee stops and period correct teardrop knee levers that are totally adjustable.

| That brings back memories. My first steel was a 6140, just a tad newer than this one, bought new at Manny's NYC in '73. Pedals more to the left, 6+2, no shelf pots, but same blonde finish and same industrial paint underneath. |

It was made in April 1971....
Could the racks be modified to take knee levers.maybe welding some metal would be a good idea... |

| Lane, I tried James who was very helpful,I wanted three full kit knee levers the cost of shipping was unbelievable, just for the pull rods was 120 dollars just for the shipping, the the cost of the rods on top of that, the racks and stops would be three times that again just for shipping....we here in the UK are finding it hard to buy from the US now. Just for a set of strings the shipping is more the cost of the strings.....John |

| Lane, I am a member of the british steel forum, one member has got the teardrop levers for me. Jus t need the other parts, I want to use the three racks that are on the guitar but they don't have brackets to take the levers.....John |

Well I did the best I could with this bud, four knee levers fitted , moved and narrowed the pedals , polished the cross bar. plays and stays in tune .I love the tone..
