"Adventures in Paradise" was an American television series of the 60s created by James Michener. The title tune was made famous by The Atlantics, an Australian surf rock band founded in 1961. The group celebrated their 50th Anniversary of their first album this year. Over the years The Atlantics have re-emerged sporadically. In 1999 they three reformed on a more permanent basis with guitarist Martin Cilia, whom I had the pleasure to play with at Huntingdon Beach about a year ago.
Played here on the Steelocaster, A6 tuning, key of A. The arrangement and all the backing is mine:
- Roland E-09: strings, rhythm and bass, percussion
- Gibson Chet Atkins: rhythm guitar.

Kay, we all know you can play, but the mark of a really great musician is their ability to come up with musical ideas. Your arrangement is one of the best I have heard, and as it is in my tuning of A6th, it provides lots of ideas that I can steal. No pun intended. The backing is very nice, especially in the intro. It really sets the tune up.

Tom, Doug and David: looks like that stirred the memory pot quite a bit..
David, I am humbled by your kind words. All's I know is that it is a beautiful tune for the beautiful instrument we love, ....the rest is intuitive...
Steel away!
