Traps C6 Chord Chart Explanation

I forgot the explination. Any 0 position is open position,or no pedals engaged. for example is you were looking for a major 7 chord in the key of c you would go to the 12th fret open position and hit strings 3,4,5,6,7 or any combo of those strings.
for an inversion of the C mj 7 chord,you could go 5 frets above open C at the 12th fret and hit strings 7,6,5,4,3,2 while engaging the 7th pedal.

+ means fret positions above the open position in any key
- means fret position below the open position in any key

hope this clears it up.

Crow Bear, I had looked at Bengt's charts. The only problem is, on the first few, the P5 and P6 are reversed in the pedal layout key the top. I tried it to see if they are right in the tabs and they are.

Hi Scott,

I printed out Trap's C6th chart some time ago and it filled 4 A4-sized pages (A4 is 297mm X 210mm). I can't recall the file format, but it wasn't a spreadsheet, I think it was a .pdf file. It's filed away somewhere, I just can't find it otherwise I would have posted on this subject earlier.

Now, if someone were to do a version of it the same as Patricia Warnock's great E9th wall-chart, in pdf format, that would be very, very useful.

You may find Joe Ely's chord finder a helpful tool. You can put in the tuning and locate most any type chord. Good luck!

Sonny Jenkins contacted me and said he had converted Trap's chart for Universal - 12, using the Newman coped. He asked if he could send it to me for me to upload. I have done so, but I do not have MS Word. Normally the Libre Office software I use can deal with Word docs, but this one would not open right. However, I could view it with Google fine. So, I copied the data into Libre office from Google and made a PDF. I think everything came out fine, but if you detect any errors, contact me and I will try to deal with them.

Hey Doug,,,thanks a million for making that available. I think the uni tuning is getting more attention the past few years, though there seems to be more variations of tunings than what we think of as standard on E9-C6. Jeff seemed to have a very simple tuning and demonstrated what could be done with that tuning. BTW,,,I have also converted (with Ernie/Buddy's permission) the C6 patterns and pockets that Buddy put in Steel Guitar player magazine years ago. They are basically "no pedal pockets" , converted to B6.
