My latest offering, Steelin' Scales & Modes, Vol. 1, for C6 tuning, is now available in both spiral-bound and e-Book versions at http://www.steelinstruction.com/

I'm running a sale price for $25 for the printed book and $19.95 for the e-book (which also saves on shipping).

This book introduces a new system of looking at scales and modes in tetrachords, and I believe it is very useful for steel guitarists using C6 tuning, whether 6 string or 8 string lap steel, or even pedal steel. It gets at the heart of C6 tuning, but more importantly provides an extensive look at scales and modes, but in a digestible way. The content is just under 100 pp.

Here are a few sample pages:

Mike, If I purchase you system it looks like I'll have to learn to read music. Comming from learning by ear and reading tab, I may be in a casket by the time i learn to read music. Convince me, looks like I'll eather have to learn C6th or quit, can't find any thing for Lap Steel in E9th or E7th. Your system looks interesting i'm tempted.

My apology Mr Neer, after reading my entry here relating to your New Lessons and Instructional book I reolize how arrogant it was.

Wayne, not arrogant at all. I know it can be tough to find instructional material in certain tunings, which is one of the reasons why a lot of folks go for C6, because there does happen to be a decent amount of stuff.

This book is more of a food for thought, eye-opening kind of thing--it's not really a method, but just a new way of looking at scales and the fretboard in C6.

Wayne, I would recommend having a look at Doug Beaumier's 2 books of songs for C6. You can learn more as a newbie by playing songs than anything else.
