Does anyone know when Fender started making the
re-issue 1965 Twin Reverb Amp. Reason for asking
was my amp tech says those circuit boards are
about a 1/16th of an inch thick. then they have to etch it. Makes you wonder. Couldn't Fender make them a little thicker especially if their banged around a little on the job. He says Fender could have hand wired them. Even for two or three thousand dollars people would buy them. I bought mine brand new in june' 06 no problems so far, but my vintage fender amps do out class it. I guess thats why everyone wants the old ones. Tennessee Lee

I would be more concerned what material the PCB is made from. FR-4 or something similar should be no problem if mounted correctly.

I have a re-issue but have not opened the case.

They started production on the '65 Twin RI in 1992.

At the time Fender was building most every amp with PC boards. That was the only way they could make them affordable. It's still the only way they can keep them at the price they are.
Sure they could do a hand wired Twin Reverb and it would list somewhere around $4k, and have a street price around $3,200. Problem is you can still buy an original '60s hand-wired Twin Reverb for around(or under) $1000, then spend another $350 to have a good repair shop get it in shape and run the thing for another 30 or 40 years.
So if you can get a great running '60s Twin for under $1500, how many reissues do you think Fender is going to sell for over double that price?

Exactly. Which is why Fender can build hand wired point to point Tweed Twin Reissues -- they sell at half to one third what original Teeed Twins go for in Los Angeles.
But the same market conditions do not exist for any black amp -- except perhaps a Vibroverb with a 15.
