Saw Scotty McCreery and didn't catch the steel players name. I think he said Justin something. We're going to see Sara Evans this Friday and wondered if she has a steel player and who it might be.
Thanks Brett you're an encyclopedia on these questions. |

Scotty's steel player is Justin Ward. Sara doesn't feature steel in her band, but Gary Morse played on a few of her records, and I think Paul Franklin did too |

Thank you Brett. We saw Scotty last Friday in Lancaster Pa. Justin is a multi-instrumentalist who played steel, guitar and banjo quite well. Whoever ran sound didn't get right as the bass was as loud as the singer and the steel was way in the back and had a thin sound out front. Scotty and the musicians did a great job but it was hard to hear everything.
I wish Sara had a steel with her but I'll have to settle for just staring at her I guess. We see her this Friday in the same place in Pa.
Brett you a very valuable member of the steel guitar community.
Thank You

Tom Brumley played on Sara's first CD, Three Chords and the Truth. Some of his best on that CD is on the Bill Anderson song, Walk Out Backwards. I seem to recall from the credits that he played some lap steel.
Sorry I can't help on the live show bands. _________________ HagFan

Justin was playing steel for Scotty when Scotty opened for Brad Paisley in Charlotte, NC last year. I went to the show and Justin was on steel for Scotty and Randle Currie was on steel for Brad |

Justin's a great guitar player...I haven't seen him in a while, but I spent some time with him a few years ago...phenomenal guitar player and no slouch on steel either. |

Ben, I played for Sara when she was 12 years old. She obviously looked a little different then she does now. Larry _________________ Mullen G2 SD10 3 & 5 The Eagle

Bill we can't make it this time, I've got some pickin' to do up here in New Jersey. We plan on being there in August. I want to see and hear Ron Elliott again and I've got some time off. We'll be hanging out with Jeannie & Wayne Smith for a few days before the show.
Larry, Sara grew up to be a beautiful woman and a great singer but I think did pretty well in that department. For an ole hairy legged steel picker. |

Ron, that isn't Tom on "Walk Out Backwards"...it's Bucky Baxter. Tom's on "Imagine That", and "True Lies"...playing his Mullen SD11.
Great playing by both of them. |
