We all have our opinion of ball teams, cars, attire, food, and yes "Steel Guitars". However in our heart of hearts, we all know what is the best. |

I have several Emmons guitars and I love them all as much as a guy can love an inanimate object. I also have a Zum that I like as much as the Emmons guitars and I have a Rains that I like as much as the Emmons guitars and the Zum. Shoot, I have a Magnum that plays as good and sounds possibly as good as the Emmons, the Zum and the Rains. I also know that the Mullen plays as good as any of them and I have heard some that sounded awfully good. The Mullen guys loaned me a G2 to play at the St Louis show (in the Gospel room) and it sounded terrific to me and played like a dream. I played poorly on it because it was strange to me but the guitar was great. I can't fault a guy for wanting to try something different, however, Terry, you might miss that LeGrande after it is gone.

Don't know why I feel like commenting, but I will. ;)The Mullen is a fine guitar, top shelf no doubt, but the comparison to the Rolls Royce is arguable. At many a steel show, probably 1/3 of the guitars played are Mullens. I don't see hotel parking lots full of Rollses and Bentleys at the shows I attend.
I'd venture that the steel guitar equivalent of the Rolls Royce automobile would be the Anapeg guitar from Australia. Rare, custom, totally handcrafted, flawless operation, etc. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

I agree Lee. These types of intrusions are one of the most annoying and irritating aspects of some members' behavior on this forum. Particularly in the classified sections.
Patronizing, scolding remarks that insult the OP's intelligence as if he is not capable of knowing what he wants or ignorant about the various makes of guitars.
Telling him what they think he should do rather than helping him achieve what he wants to do. Especially offering up obviously one sided opinions where none were sought. Maybe not knowing or caring what the person's reasons are....not that it should matter.
Just another reason I wish there was a way to implement a "no comments allowed" policy for all the classified boards.

Yeah, not to mention it was dredged up from a 3 mos. old otherwise dead thread. These types of intrusions are one of the most annoying and irritating aspects of some members' behavior on this forum. Particularly in the classified sections.

Jerry, I agree with you completely, with the exception of your last sentence. Sometimes, and I'd say frequently, a positive comment from a disinterested third party with some steel guitar gravitas can greatly aid the seller. An example might be Tommy White saying "I should never have sold that guitar, someone's getting a great deal."
However, deleterious individual posts can be taken off a thread by a moderator if said mod is made aware of the infraction.
As to the other stuff, it's sad that some folk have to thump their chests in threads that nobody asked them to, and have little interest in what they're bragging (to themselves) about. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

I hope that I was not guilty of an inappropriate post. What point I was trying to make is that there are many great guitar brands and that includes the Emmons LeGrande. I have 2 LeGrande II's and I like them very much. I have a Zum and a Rains and would have a hard time choosing between the Emmons ,the Zum or the Rains. Even the Magnum which has been looked upon by many as an inferior instrument satisfies me very well. All my "playing years" when I was playing clubs, bars and dance halls which was from about 1957 to 1970 I only had a home made guitar that I used pull/release changers, rods for pulls and cables and pulleys from Ford windshield wipers, screen door springs and screen door "no-sag" turnbuckles, plungers in the key head for some lowers so I know what an inferior guitar really is and any of the brand of guitars mentioned by me or anyone in this thread is not anything less then tremendous in my opinion. I think I would be a much better player at this point if I stuck to one guitar instead of constantly changing to a different choice of the week. I wish I had any one of those guitars mentioned when I was really into playing. I do have several makes of guitars and I would honestly miss any one of them if I happen to sell it. I certainly hope I didn't offend anyone. Perhaps I need to mind my own knitting more. Since I don't have anything to trade to Terry I am out'a here.

Jerry Roller, I don't think that your post personally offended anyone at all. I'm thinking about those posts that reflect negatively on the aims of the OP, or posts that offer suggestions like "ditch that turkey and get Brand X" as a solution when an OP is asking for help with a problem that needs solving. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.
