Thank for the kind words Ray.
I sometimes enjoy the recording of backing tracks as much as playing the lap steel over them.
I always start with some piano/kbd part to learn the chords and structure the arrangement set to a "drum" click track. Then I add: Guitar, uke, bass etc.
By the time I am ready to play the steel, I feel that I know the song pretty well...
BTW I have over 350 background tracks recorded. I would gladly share with anyone interested. I can send MP3's by email.
Sincerely;

Very well done I must say Dom, from a period when we had a lot of good songs.

Don, that's beautiful. The whole combination, the track, the playing and the vocal. It's a nice remdition.

Dom
I have about a 60 year old piece of tab for Mexicali Rose from the Halifax Hawaiian Studios where I took lessons.
Would you be able to Email a track of your version to me as an Mp-03

Jerry Byrd played that in the old days, and the second time through he did it in harmonics, which was sort of common for him to do on some tunes....
It's a nice old tune for sure.... |
