Josh Gibson has a pre RP and we have been talking about changing the pickups out. Looking for fatter sound than the 710's that are currently aboard.
This wood body guitar with wood necks is really clean sounding, we are thinking 20K Emmons pickups would do the trick. Tonealigners might still be to bright, True Tones are always a good choice.
Anyone tried something different?

FWIW, I've been playing D10 Mullen Pre RP's since 1995. I've tried the GL PF-1, 10-1, Alumitone, Mullen 17.5K S/C and Mullen HWP 22K S/C.
Out of that group, my choice is the HWP for the most balanced tone and classic rich Mullen PRP sound. If you require a humbucker, the original BL 705 chrome surround would be my choice.
Have no experience with the 710.
There's also the BL XR16. Tonealigner, and the new Telonics line to consider, but I can't offer any reviews about them. |

| Larry, I just changed out the pickups in my Mullen G2. I put Telonics 409 in the E9 neck and Telonics 84 AW in the C6 neck. I was really skeptical at first about doing it because the stock pickups sounded okay themselves, but after I put the Telonics pickups in it I can't stop playing it. They really do something to the sound. It's all good. They really woke up the guitar. Keep in mind though, that what you like for tone someone else might not and vice versa. All depends on what you like. |

We have something you might like to try. If you haven't changed pickups yet, please let me know and we'll send you something that should make Josh's C6th neck sound "several times Phatter".
If that works, we'll have you try something different for the E9th neck. (Ready for a little Research and Development work?)

I assume that Josh has the older narrow mount pickups with one or two screws at the top and bottom to fit the narrow "ShoBud-style" pickup pockets on the early Mullen guitars? Would that be correct? |

I have a lacquer G2 and the Lawreence 705 will do what you want. Louder, clearer than most and quiet also.

I put PF2's in both necks of my G2. I tried the 710's, but the PF2's were much warmer and still plenty of clarity in the highs.
