....had to be Russ Hicks' '78 Sho~Bud Super Pro! Without a doubt, the "ElDorado" was the most beautiful guitar there! The frets, the fret markers,& the name,"ElDorado" on the front of the guitar, were all inlaid abalone.
(& that's no baloney. ) The guitar was originally built by Paul Franklin Sr.,when he worked for Sho~Bud. The guitar was, refurbished by Dick Miller. This was one of the last guitars that Dick worked on,before he passed away. What a wonderful,& lasting memory to remember him by. If you missed looking at it,up close, you missed a true work of art.

Smiley, You are so right. That Sho-Bud was a beauty AND it sounded great as well. Love them Buds and the players as well.

This is a beautiful guitar. This guitar was in Duanne Marr's custom shop for tweaking and adjustment in February. I have some pictures of Russ playing it in the shop if anyone is interested. This is a real collectable and Russ is a lucky guy. A very unique and beautiful Sho-Bud. [This message was edited by Kevin Hatton on 19 March 2003 at 09:49 AM.] |

Definitely a beautiul guitar. I didn't know Dick Miller passed. I knew him in the '80's in Las Vegas...when did he pass away? |

I think I have one of these guitars
I sent a video to Lloyd Green and he said it was the most beautiful steel he'd ever seen
Of course mine is Green and Natural birdseye
same abalone inlay like Russ' but with abalone Rose in center of apron
9x6 this is the most highly figured pc of birdseye anyone remembers seeing. If anyone can shed some light on history of these rare guitars it would be apreciated Skip |
