Yeah, that one reeks of trouble! If you check, this is a new dealer (just registered 4 days ago) with no previous feedbacks, and they claim to be in Canada. Even the seller's ID is suspicious..."iliefrizeru"?

I already sent an email to the bidder. I can't say it's actually fraud. Maybe it's the sellers photo's on the website (I doubt it) - anyway, I sent the bidder an email.

I can tell you firsthand that there IS a LOT of fraud going on at Ebay lately. About a month ago I got emails telling me that someone was using my photos on Ebay. They sent me links to the "auctions" which turned out to be "selling" a '60 P-bass that I'd sold a buddy here in Kansas about a year ago. They used all the same photos from the pictorial in my website, including one of the backplate with a clear shot of the serial number. My friend (who also is the bass player in the band I've been in for the past 2 years) still has the bass in his posession only a mile or so from where I live. I emailed Ebay about it and about the same time the auction page dissappeared, not just cancelled like usual with the page remaining...there were two days left to go, supposedly...same thing happened with another auction for an Abe Rivera Scepter, stole the photos off my site. A guy interested in the guitar emailed me, I told him I'd already sold the guitar but not to anyone in Indonesia, where it was now supposedly being sold from. He emailed the "seller" he wanted to use an escrow service and the guy refused. I've bought and sold plenty of stuff on Ebay in the last 3 or 4 years but I'd really beware if I was thinking of buying or selling anything there now. I would've discounted it as paranoia a few years ago, but not now. |

| I have had recent problems on ebay too.I had my Maverick Shobud up for auction,the bidding went pretty high and sold.The person never contacted me after many emails.I sumitted a complaint to ebay and had to wait almost 3weeks to get my listing fee back.Here is this persons ebay call name,leatherman2d,thier email address is patdavis@mchsi.com Donot accept any bids from this email address,you can block them through ebay.This was the only problem I had with ebay,and this person had no ratings too.If we at the forum all stick out and identify these fraudulent people it will make it hard for them here on the forum and ebay. |

| There is a tremendous amount of this kind of fraud on Ebay. I won't buy anything unless I can get a phone number and call someone in person and verify everything. It has almost gotten out of control from the looks of it, especially with musical instuments. Just grab the photos from another auction and post at a later date. |

You should change your Ebay password occasionally also. About a year ago, my Ebay account was hacked by someone in England. They evidently wanted to use my feedback rating to sell bogus merchandise. Ebay froze my account for a couple of weeks until we got it straightened out. I wasn't out anything so I guess I was lucky. Just a word about hackers, be sure to use longer passwords. The average hacker can crack a 4 digit password in less than 1 minute, an 8 digit password takes an average of 10.9 months.

| That is one of the worst looking Style 35 tricones that I have ever seen-you can see more of the reflection of the photo takers hand than of the foppish looking lute player-some of these were airbrushed with color paint over the etchings and some were not-although the style 35 is a better guitar (german silver with flow through metal neck) the model 97 "surfer girl" (brass plated body with wooden neck) usally brings twice as much $$$ |

Even though I emailed the bidder, the person hasn't retracted the bid. The bidder also zero feedback, which leads me to believe may be the seller trying to start bids on the instrument.
