| Rob, I ordered one 2 days ago myself. I have made them in the past from Radio Shack components. The Stutter Bomb looks a lot more robust. I have a stand that I made, and i'll simply use Industrial Strength Velcro to attach the Stutte Bomb to the end of the stand. My main concern is over using anything like this. In the right places, it is very effective and ear bending. I'll chime back in when mine arrives. I got word yesterday that they are making mine now. Have you checked out all of the loop selector switches they offer? All kinds of goodies you cannot find anywhere else and they all look like they are built to be very road worthy. |

I have their 8-Loop true-bypass unit, and it works flawlessly.
I just got an email from them saying they have hired more folks and that delivery times have improved alot.
They don't just pull one off the shelf and ship it.
Upon receiving an order, they put the order in a unit-order queue, and then build the unit, then ship it.
Please post a review when you get it. |

Hey Karl,
I ran this past Lee Jefferies when I ordered and he said that it lookd like it should do the job. His playing on Loser's Blues with Big Sandy is what inspired to try one of these. Yes, we did discuss how it could be easily over done. I'll just have keep myself in check....

Interesting - I didn't know they made such an effect nowadays. I replaced the tone control on my Fender 1000 with a switch which does the rapid tone off (doo-wah) thing. It's a lot of fun, in moderate doses and mixed in with other playing tricks and sound effects.

One thing that I don't like about this company so far is that they have no personal contact with you at all. I've tried to contact them about a potential popping issue that sometimes happens according to Lee Jefferies, that needs to be addressed during the wiring process. The emails are bounced back every time. They do send updates about how the build itself is going and when I can expect to receive the item. However, it's a no reply message. Hopefully, there won't be any issues...

Proper filtering is essential to the circuit, in order to eliminate popping as the switch is engaged. The video in Doug's post illustrates this. When the guy moves the dial to the left you hear the clicking as the switch engages (which is why he turned off the noisy death fuzz at that point). |

Hey Guys,
I've been playing around with this Stutter Bomb and it's exactly what I was hoping for. Very fast button. No snap or audible click or pop. Solidly built. I just need to figure out a good way to fasten it somewhere easily accessible. I tried using Velcro strips on right/rear leg but a square box on a round surface just doesn't cut it. I'm gonna' try zip strips next. I'll just have to cut 'em off each time I guess....

So it works perfectly.
Cool. Good to know.
Maybe you could drill a hole in the endplate and mount it right into the side of your steel.
Maybe modify the Pad so the button comes up from below the pad?
Does having it on the floor next to the V-ped work?
Now I want one!  |

I'm a little confused here. Does this Stutter Bomb work on the tone control or the volume control?
I thought most of the stuttering done on steel was done with the tone control.
If this is basically a kill switch that completely cuts off the signal when the button is depressed, it would act like a volume type stutter.
Is that right? |

Right. A quick kill switch. It'll stutter as fast as you can work your fingers...

I think you could make a stock Stutter Bomb fit right onto the jack with one of the double ended 1/4" jacks used to string effects together.
Not sure of stability.
That box you have looks great for this. |

I finally got around to using the Loop Master Stutter Bomb last Friday night at a gig. I velcroed the Stutter Bomb to the top of the stand that holds my lap steel and used a standard effects connector cable to feed the lap steel to the Stutter Bomb. It worked just fine and seems to be built to be bullet proof. I think you could drive a truck over this thing and it would still work. Nothing elegant here, it just turns your signal off and on as fast as you can press and release the momentary button.
The next step is to have the signal fed to a special effects loop that I will also trigger when using the Stutter Bomb so that the stutter effect will have a modified signal with no highs and perhaps an octave drop at the same time. I'll trigger that with another momentary switch with my foot. The possibilities of carnage are endless. |
