Bob Wills, Speedy West and Jimmy Bryant, Billy Robinson & Grady Martin, Jerry Byrd and Zeke Turner.....
all used to play great two guitar stuff, for intro's,
solo's and instrumentals.
Any of this going on in your neck o'the woods these days?
If not, what in your view is the reason. |

The last time I heard twinin' going on to any degree was at an association jam where the state level upper crust was showin' off for those who didn't have a clue.
I thought twinin' was supposed to harmonize. I guess I was wrong. |

Hi Ray!
That's a favorite sound of mine for Western Swing.
2 tunes that come to mind that my band currently plays are: Choo Choo Ch-Boogie & Walking the Floor.
On regular guitar I know quite a few more.
It's always a fun challenge!
And sometimes we actually play the right notes together!
Can't beat Jimmy & Speedy, though |

Jeff DeMaio, with Gunsmoke Live 2011 from up in the Milford, Connecticut area was kind enough to send me a You Tube clip of several of their performances.
I was really turned on by the brightly blinking lights inside the bass drum........ Really, this fella plays an EMMONS double neck, possibly a black Mica body, demonstrates fine tone and styling on both necks.
The twin guitar work was quite refreshing and done very well. There's nothing like working with a great guitarist. The twin guitar stuff really pumps some life into western swing arrangements.
THANKS much Jeff for sharing with me. You SGF types most likely will enjoy listening to this group. |
