Hi everyone: I recently bought a lap steel and inside the pocket was an Oahu bar. I was showing someone the guitar I'd just bought and he noticed the bar; he nearly jumped out of his skin with excitement ("DO you know what you've got there??")
What DO I have "there"?
Its about four inches long with an indentation for your thumb.
thanks everyone! Jim

I don't know Jim, but I have one , too, so I'll be keeping an eye on this thread. Mine is flat and says "Oahu" on it.

When I had my music store and used to teach. I had the Oahu course and still have left over some of those flat Oahu bars. Picks, Oahu sheet music...Gee, maybe they will be collectors items....al

What you probably have is a student model bar provided with the student model Oahu lap steels. I've seen both bullet bars with "Oahu" on the end and flat bars with a waffle-type pattern on both sides and the word "Oahu" on the sides. The tone the flat bars produce is very thin in my opinion.

I wouldn't get excited about this bar personally, but I know of people who collect such things.
