I'm currently building another non-pedal steel (I know...what was I thinking). Other than the obvious (Home Depot, Lowes, etc.), is there any other place I can get a small sheet (2'x 4') of black mica to cover this rascal. All of the cabinet shops tell me that this color is special order & your looking at 8 weeks (if your lucky) for delivery. The steel will be a D-8. |

Gerald,
It's expensive too! Me and my wife build bars in our spare time(hah!), and she recently tried to get a 4x8 sheet of shiny high-grade black formica. It too was special order and would be over $200 for one sheet! Guess we'll stick with Naugahyde for now. Come to think of it, why not a Naugahyde covered steel? It comes in just about any color you can imagine, usually 20-30 bucks a yard. Think about it, with a little foam padding under it, it would be comfortable, easy to wipe the beer off of, and very cool! |

I would check with one of the PSG-builders or re-builders. They ought'a have some smaller pieces that they could sell you (?).
