In 2009,Paul Franklin said to me at The Station Inn, in Nashville. If you want to play Country Music, play as many other styles of music as you can, also. It will add to you fund of knowledge.
I have been playing and have tabbed out, "Music of the night", from Andrew Lloyd Webbers, "Phantom of the Opera". I had to work hard, as my mind set was on Country Music, but found that Paul was right. I had to use my ear in a differnt Way,
If anyone is interested in this lovely piece of Music, (and it sounds great on steel). I can send a copy to you.
There is a backing track on Youtube also.
KInd Regards

That's quite a statement!
Everyone is good at something!
Like most things that are worth having, perseverance
and just plain wanting to do something so bad,
That you stick to it, is what it takes.
Send me your email address to jrussellacms@aol.com
And I will email you the Tab.
Keep pickin'

I think that is so true about learning other styles/forms of music. I find I write better in my chosen vein (three chord country) when I don't listen to country music primarily. I especially like Russian Classical Composers and Spaghetti Western sound tracks.
Anyway , PM sent! |
