Topic: My new home-built flight case |

I was in need of a new case for my MSA, and I had decided to try my hand at building an flight case style case for it. I used 3/8" ply, 1/2" foam, and a lovely brocade fabric to cover the foam on the inside.
Would I do it again? Absolutely not...okay, maybe. I've gigged it a handful of times since completion, and the casters are a god-send. I haven't weighed it yet, but I think it comes in just under what the original wooden MSA case weighs.

HAHA, thanks Allen, there are many people, and some even here on this forum whom are much more competent, and cost-effective that myself. I just always need some sort of project to do, and this seemed reasonable enough.
My hand hurt for a week after installing all those rivets!

I know what you mean. I really hurt myself putting about 150 staples in the grill cloth on a speaker cabinet I recently built.

So for this project:
~200 For the aluminum extrusion, tongue and groove, latches, handles, rivets, washers, casters, levelers, corners, ABS plastic etc.
~100 For the wood, foam, glue, and fabric, drill bits, saw blades etc.
Build time was about 20 hours or so -- lots of measuring, learning, and cursing built into that time as well.
