It seems like this has fallen WAY under the radar for some reason....but apparently Rusty gets inducted this year!!!!

If he's playing a solo steel set, then I think I have a GREAT reason to attend this year!

Hooray!!!!

Absolutely! Rusty has carried the steel banner for a long time, and he deserves recognition!
I wonder if his brother, Neil, is gonna be there, too??? Rolling Eyes

Yes, but the flipside is that maybe a bunch of folks who would love an opportunity to see, hear and meet Rusty will actually come to the convention this year who otherwise wouldn't come. So there is 'marketing value' in knowing in advance who is going to be inducted. Otherwise, it's like a surprise 'bonus' for the regular attendees.

Rusty,
you made it cool for us long haired hippie baby-boomer teenagers to play steel guitar in the late 60's-early 70's, and that fact for sure kept my a$$ from getting severly kicked more than a few times in the rough dives I was playing back then in Mpls and St. Paul. I owe you one......
This SGHOF induction is long overdue, and Im awful glad to hear about it. Congrats Rusty!

mike..i didn't realize that you, too, dealt with the 'hippie steeler in a redneck bar' syndrome. now i respect you even more.
buddy cage also led that charge.

aside from some dude asking me to dance a couple of times, i never had to fight!

rusty deserves this...one of the greatest tone monsters.

who was it that said: "...and the steel bar comes in handy in those barroom tussels" ????

btw, while Joe 6-pack truly hated my guts, I recall that all them beehived babydolls didnt seem to mind my long hair at all, which was usually the cause of those barroom tussels Wink

I was one of them long haired yankee hippies who never heard of a pedal steel until Poco and Rusty Young. Changed my life.
Congrats Rusty!!
