Hi Nick,
Regarding the tuning used to record & play Ralph's Reel...
My Fender 400 (8 string) is tuned to a standard E9th, String 1 (high G#) thru String 8 (E), using the standard 3 foot pedals (no knee levers).
My Carter has the standard 10 string E9th tuning & pedal set-up.

I used both the Carter & the Fender on the official recording of Ralph's Reel from my Pickin' Your Picks CD.

Thanks to both you guys for the help!
Al, you posted that the low string is an E. I have my Fender 400 strung E9, without the chromatic strings(low B).
If you could give me you exact E9 tuning you used, I would greatly appreciate it!

I was mistaken....I meant to say that the 8th string on my Fender 400 is a low B...same as the 10 string version.

I have one more question about pedal set up.
Do you have the C pedal set up to pull E-F# only, or do you have it to pull the B-C# too.

Hi Nick,
I have the standard 2 pulls on my 3rd (C) pedal. I have learned not to pick the 3rd (B) string when using the C pedal.
Of course, if you wish it is very easy to slip both loops of the cables on the C pedal over the raise finger of the 2ns (E) string, should you wish to only pull the one string as Mooney did.
