Back in 1999 I rebuilt a nearly destroyed Supro Twin for myself equipped with mid 60's Gibson P-90 pups. The result was an incredible sounding steel guitar that until last year was my #1 steel. Two months ago I was able to locate another one in very poor condition and at the request of one of my steel students created a clone of of the '52. After a month of work, it too turned into a great guitar. It was made in 1955 and is now wearing Duncan Vintage P'90's. The installation of these pups is difficult due to having to open up the steel plates (without heat)and routing out a bit of wood below. I also installed all new pots, caps and switch as well as all tuner buttons. Pictured below is my '52 on the left and Ben's '55 on the right.

Those Supro's must "scream" with P90's.
What tunings are on your's and Ben's Supros? |

These steels will "scream" if you run the volume all the way up but if you keep it in the half to three quater zone they sound like big console steels and the artificial harmonics absolutely jump out of them! The'55 with the new Duncan pups is a little hotter than my '52 with it's older Gibson units. _________________ www.facebook.com/speedingwest
