Looking for the traditional tuning for Hawaian lap steel and a dual neck non pedal steel with 8 strings per neck. Thanks in advance. H and the R

You can't go wrong with C6 and B11.

The original Hawaiian tuning was an A, high or low bass. On an 8 string neck, I like to put an F# in there to make it an A6th.

I want to for a try tune my new SX Lap to Open G to try somethings I know well on my Dobro.

Suggestions for stings... best I can figure is

.048w/.038w/.036w/.026/.019/.017

I have no idea what I am doing..at least I admit it and am not affraid to ask.. is this even close !! Smile

Ya'll been great with input.. GR8 website
Bet I am worth a good laugh with some of my questions!

Henry, I use a C13th (same as C6th but with a Bb for the seventh string) on my inside neck and a B11th on the outside of my double 8. I normally keep both necks on and go back and forth between the two for a number of tunes. These two tunings compliment each other beautifully and you eventually get familiar with the chord locations on both.
