This is a funky little single-neck console, apparently made in Alabama but I don't know anything about the builder. It's a faux wood-grain mica covering, with a 1/2 pad, seems to be a Shobud fretboard (24" scale) and a George-L pickup. It actually sounds great - the string spacing is pretty wide, kind of like an old Magnatone. The cabinet looks cool from a little distance too, just up close it's clearly not master cabinet work. The legs are non-adjustable & very light-weight but work.
The Awtrey name appears on the metal diamond on the back, and I have seen a couple references to it but don't know anything further about the brand.
Great learner or rock & roll steel. $400 plus shipping? I can send a zip file with lots more pics upon request. . .

How do the legs fit into the body?
Is the whole neck metal under the mica? _________________ Inlaid Star Guitar 2006 by Mark Giles. SD-10 4+5 in E9th; http://luthiersupply.com/instrument-gallery.html

They screw in to standard leg sockets. Here are a couple of pictures from underneath.
You could use some regular adjustable legs - it would be more stable. I'd knock of a few bucks for anyone that doesn't want these ones.
Also, I should note that there is no case for this steel.

Sorry I forgot to answer about the neck - I think it's wood, that is just a trim strip around it. |
