Check out the latest masterpiece from the gifted hands of master P/P technician Lynn Stafford. This is a 65 Wrap Around that has just completed a total rebuild. This guitar plays smooth and precise. It definitely has “that sound” and killer sustain. It arrived Tuesday night and I’ve been playing it non-stop ever since.

I'm posting this to confirm that Lynn is one of the most skilled and meticulous pedal steel technicians out there. He builds every guitar as if it were his own.
Check it out:

While looking at the underside, take a look at the new split case. Built by one of Lynn's luthier friends in Portland, it fits like a glove.

Here is a shot of the master and this latest masterpiece

My first experience with Lynn’s work was a 65 Bolt On with wood necks. A stunning restoration with killer tone that I have been playing for a good 5 years now. Since then, Lynn has worked on my 75 Cut Tail D10, SD12 Cut Tail, and my ZB D10. All have come back working and sounding like new guitars.

From the moment I got the 65 Bolt On, I have been searching for a Wrap Around. A few months back, Lynn called to say he found a good candidate for a rebuild. I told him I was in and the work began. Everything was removed and cleaned. The cabinet was reflocked, aluminum was repolished (key heads, end plates, pedal bar, etc), shafts replated, and then reassembled to Lynn’s amazing standards.

Now it’s here, it plays great, and sounds amazing. Truly the holy grail of push pull guitars.

Thanks Lynn!

Jim,

Many thanks for the kind words my friend. I've really enjoyed getting to know you over the last several years. It was a real pleasure being able to deliver this guitar to you personally, while I was in the SF Bay Area visiting my mother last week. I'm very happy you're enjoying it and hope you do for many years to come!

By the way folks, I had that split case made for Jim by my friend, Bob Littleton, up here in Camas, WA. He did a great job on it and I'm probably going to order another one from him for myself.

Here is a link to Bob's web site:

Bob has also refinished several steel guitar cabinets for me, as well as for my friends, Billy Knowles and Tommy Cass.

Hello Jim;
All I can say is WOW!!!!
Those wraparound guitars make me weak in the knees !
They have the sound that I love to hear from a pedal steel.

Lynn does an impeccable job tearing them Emmons guitars down, checking out & repairing, polishing & adjusting these babies.
He makes them look better than when they left the factory.
He does beautiful work..

I just got to quit looking' at this guitar Rolling Eyes
Later .. Ron

I live about 3 miles from Lynn, I get to see and play many of his guitars before they get shipped. Lynn leaves no stone unturned on a rebuild.

He also works on other name brands as well, so if you need work done, call Lynn, I would love to play your guitar as well. I am the big winner here, all of these great guitars, so little time.

Now there's a guitar. What a beauty and if Lynn had his hands on it, it's perfect.

Do wrap arounds sound much different than the cut tails or bolt ons? Anyone know?

I was there the night Lynn delivered this to Jim. I got to hear Jim play all 3 of his push/pulls (cut tail, bolt on, and this wrap around). They all sound different to my ears. This one seemed a little sweeter sounding to me.

Lynn does great work. I wish I had a second guitar to play, as I would have him go through my Carter.

Man, Lynn does great stuff. I've seen and played steels he's worked on in person, and they're amazing. I need to get my S-12 p/p over there to get tweaked out!
