You can call it the GAY Cities of America's PURE COUNTRY Because the one's who are running this ACM Award Show is as Happy as can be snow jobbing the world of think this is their New Country and or the next generation.Boy,when I found out my LIFETIME membership card holds nothing teying to get around because I'm not GAY,this really pissed me off. I'm GAY,But for women only.I know that this BS would not be happing if Mr. Bill Boyd was still with us.As for Gene weed or his brother Ron I can't say. I also know how Dick Clark feels about all of this too and it's sad that Cari is on the side line. Power is out of order and all you Musicians and Songwriters of Southern California from Bakersfiled to the board should be singing out loud about this crap.I'm really taken by this format of we got pushed out thanks to Bob Romero in Leo help me make it work in Vegas. Well I did the first year and that was my last. I'm done with all this BS Too my Brothers and Sisters of the music world. Now my book " Who Used Who,My Memories " will mean something. The God Father of Southern California Country Music. God Bless you all,Uncle Leo J.Eiffert,Jr. |

I liked the fact Reba intoduced a tribute to Dick Clark founder of ACM AWARDS.
Garth Brooks and George Strait sang country! I miss those good old days. Way to go George 60 #1 records! The new artist need to go back to the root of true Country Music! |

OK Bill!
You have to admit Garth sounded better than any of the new artist on the show last night. Garth hasn't performed in how many years? |

I think everyone can tell what good singing from bad is. Not to mention a good song from a bad song is. I can tell if it's good or bad! |

I have been a member of the Academy since 1976 and it has changed for sure. This year I didn't even vote.
I do like a few things I have heard, but like Leo says, our time has passed. If they are getting their gay on, count me out. _________________ heavily medicated for your safety |

Here we go again.
This is sort of like rubbernecking as you drive by while they're cleaning up a big car crash. The cops correctly exclaim, "Nothing to see here, folks, just move along ..." |

Yes I have to agree. Even when he was swingin on ropes ect. he was better than these guys.
There were only two vocals I heard that were on key. That was Jewel and Kelly Clarkson. I didn't get to watch the first 15 min. I could have missed something. _________________ Custom Rittenberry SD10

I was a member of the ACM for many years and really miss the "old days" when we'd have meetings at some of the nightclubs in and around LA. It wandered away from what it was supposed to have been set up for and that's why I dropped out.... I used to be a "fan" of Blake Shelton's as I thought he put out some fairly decent tunes which were fun to play but I don't like him as a host of the event. He's slowly moving (or maybe it's quickly moving) into the category of "dumb ass" IMHO... When he introduced his wife, Miranda Lambert, at one point he remarked as to how he'd "Seen her naked that morning"... I think I'd respect my wife a little more than that... Also one tune that the other "co-host" did should've been on MTV, and then there's Stevie Wonder? on the ACM's?.... What's with that? I've always liked him since he was "Little" Stevie Wonder but he ain't country a bit and neither was this "presentation".... I guess I'm still a hillbilly after all and always will be..........JH in Va. _________________ Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!! |

I watched it, but didn't hear much country music. Stevie Wonder, Sheryl Crowe, Foggerty, LL CoolJay and a tribute to Dick Clark. Hmmmmm! I heard some steel behind George and saw a couple of steel guitars on the stage with some other acts but couldn't hear them. When they opened the show talking about butt cracks and balls my wife left the room. I should have too! The performances were pretty bad, but the songwriting was even worse. I guess this was 'The Cream of The Crap'.

The mainstream music is not meant for you folks anymore. It's time for the young ones, just like when you were young and your parents complained. Country music doesn't get frozen in time; in fact, no music does, nor should it. Why get upset about it?
You still have all the music you love to listen to and play available, so just enjoy what you can--but give up on the mainstream music catering to your tastes. That ship has sailed. Make yourself relevant by helping out the younger players. _________________ Links to streaming music, websites, YouTube: Links |

I have always thought that these threads would be more useful if people would mention artists under 30 who forumite's think were overlooked at this years Academy of Country music awards.
Who are the new, young country acts that do the kind of music that you like but who were ignored by the nominating committee? |

MIKE, You are right ,It isn't for the old folks. That is very clear. It isn't for Nudie or Manuel's styles
They made a living selling stage clothes. Even Goodwill would reject some of the clothes (if you can call them that) . That was not the George Strait that I bought all those recordings of. I hope he enjoys his well earned retirement soon. |

Fogerty was one of the presenters. He looked almost as out of place as George Strait.
It was a predictable show. It is representative of the state of what is considered current country music. I don't know what else one could expect it to be.
It's kind of a mirror of the world we live in. In your face, down your throat, confrontational, aggressive, extreme behavior. The sort of stuff the public seems to crave these days.
Let's all hope for better times in the near future. |

That's a good point.
Comparisons (in lack of a better word) of quality or attitudes can really only be made within the same age groups. Hard to compare the Beatles to Bill Haley. _________________ Fender Kingman, Sierra Crown D-10, Evans Amplifier, Soup Cube. |

Hello Theresa Galbraith, My late dear friend Mr.Dick Clark did not. I mean he did not Founder " The Academy Of Country Music " no more than Jo Walker Meadows did the CMA from Nashville. I assure you it's fun to see how all these crazy Gay people running around like chickens who are so happy about the snow job that has been pulled on us by taking over the name Country Music and adding Rock N Roll with R&B to the T.V. Stars who have been there for years. My New Record Label " Leftover Records & recording studio " is in full swing. The God Father Of Southern California Country Music,Uncle Leo J.Eiffert,Jr. |
