I am playing thru a Roland cube80xl amp. I have a splitter (Y) that I plug my ipod and my steel into the input of the cube amp. ...only problem is...it doesnt work...i cant get both to come thru the amp...what do i need to purchase to make this work.
if i unplug the ipod then I can hear the steel, but never both the steel and the ipod at the same time. The main reason I am doing this is that I want to run them thru my headphones so I can practice along with rhythm tracks without disturbing others. I hope this makes sense ...help please Sad

Tim
I dunno...if I went to radio shack, what would I ask for ?
Btw, I should add that if I plug two guitars into the Y, then theft both come thru the amp just fine. It's only if I have the iPod and a guitar, that only one or the other comes then the amp. Thanks in advance !

Yes, use the Aux input. If you are using a headphone output from your mp3 device, then you will control the Aux volume from your mp3 device. If you are using an aux out that provides a constant level, you will need something else in the loop to control the volume level such as this:

Aux input. I use my android smartphone to play my backup tracks. THere is an android app that allows you to set the level for the headphone output jack and phone speaker so the headphone output is the same level each time you use it.

Thanks guys, the aux input was the ticket ! That works just like I wanted it to...now I can practice my sour notes and I am the only one who will know ! Smile
Thanks again for all of the "input"..no pun intended.
