I am starting a project with 2 pickups. I want to hook up a BL910 and astock MSA single coil togethe. What order is recommended, humbucker first single second,or sinlge coil first humbucker second? I want to have a 3 way switch, with one on, one on, both pickups on together. Any help would be appreciated. Pictures or a hand written sketch is good.

For a series connectected pickup pair the order makes no difference. However, the phasing does. That is, which wires you join from one to the other will change the "phasing". Two out of phase pickups will produce signals that cancel each other out predominantly. Since no two pickups match exactly and they aren't sensing the string vibration at the same point, you will hear some signal, but will be thin tonewise.
Think of a pickup as battery. They have polarity. If you hook up two batteries opposite and they are the same V you get no V end to end.
You can hook them up in parallel - same issue. All these combos provide different tone. |
