Please don`t take this the wrong way I am sure some may disagree Sad ,this just my opinion on this Fender amp Yes I know the Roland XL80 is a good steel amp because I have used one for the last 3 month, but to my surprise when I tried this smaller Fender Deluxe 90 watt combo I liked it better than my Roland XL80 it is lighter than my Roland and very very loud on the clean channel with no breakup even on the C6th it has loads of headroom the on-board effects are also good and with the controls on the front i find it is easier to adjust to get a good full tone. I will still keep my other Roland XL as a back up.

Funny, I use both of those amps too and I like them both as well. I had the Fender Deluxe 90 DSP first and was very satisfied with it for small rooms just as I like the Roland. It's in my Avatar under the smaller Fender practice amp. The Fender doesn't have an external speaker jack, just a line out. I like the option on the Roland to connect a 15" speaker cab. I also think the Cube 80XL has nicer sounding effects. The Fender doesn't have a presence control like the Roland. And last and most important to me...I think the Roland has a little fuller, richer sound. I use the Fender with my Stratocaster and the Roland with my steel. I use them both on stage and I will keep them both. It's just my opinion and preference. I don't think you can still get a Fender Deluxe 90 DSP anymore, unless it's used??

Well I took both amps to my weekend gig to get a comparison
1st set I used the Roland XL and yes it sounded great.

2nd set I tried the Fender Deluxe 90 and to my ears it sounded better it was just as loud as the Roland with no break up but sounded cleaner than the Roland without being tinny great on the C6th neck.
