The guitar didn't come with a case, so I built this one out of plywood and poplar. Hobby Lobby had a sale on the crushed velvet so I bought enough to reupholster my case for my old Rick while I was at it. Both cases still need handles.
I used the Rustoleum Stone finish paint and sealed it with their clear sealer. The jury is still out on whether it's tough enough, but so far it's been holding up pretty well. It's thick and rubbery sort of like a rhino liner for truck beds.

I like the fnish on the case, good idea. Heads up on the red velvet, when I used it, the red dye leached into the finish of the guitar. Now that may have been because it was a new finish and still setting. Not sure why, I just thought I'd mention it. _________________ www.deluxe34.com lap steel stands, Clinesmith, Gibson Console Grande, Northwesterns, The Best Westerns

Thanks for the tip. I'll keep an eye on it, although I don't think it will be in the case long enough for that happen as long as I have it, but I've seen that happen with other instruments. I'm sure it depends a lot on the finish too, like you mentioned. I just use the case to transport it to gigs, otherwise, it remains set up as part of my living room furniture with the rest of my toys. It's nice to be single. |
