Hey guys, sorry it has taken me so long to get this put on the Forum. I've been slammed since I got back from TX. Between trying to overdub on sessions that I missed while I was away and getting ready for our first appearance at the Station Inn with our band, 45RPM, its been pretty crazy around here.(Always thankful to be busy).
What a fantastic time in Dallas this year!
The Show Pro sponsored seminar on Thursday was a lot of fun. It was my first time to do a seminar and even though I was a bit nervous, the guys and gals who attended were so nice. Everyone made me feel comfortable and seemed to enjoy it.
Our shows in the "Big Room" were also fun. Joanie seemed to be a big hit. I think everyone, including me, enjoyed her vocals and her playing. I had a great band that knocked it out of the park. Sid Hudson w/ Live Steel Strings, played elec gtr, my pal Jim Hartley on Drums, Hank Singer on Fiddle and Jeff w/ Show Pro Guitars on Acc.
Thanks to Jeff & Gloria Surratt for their help with the seminar and to Gloria, Linda and Ray for selling our merchandise. We had a couple of jam sessions in the Show Pro room, that might have been the most fun of the entire week.
And thanks to all of you who came to the Dallas Show this year, I sure enjoyed visiting with so many of you. You all made us feel so welcomed and appreciated.
Sincerely,
MIKE & JOANIE _________________ Mike Johnson

Anna and I had a blast. The class was very insightful and I totally got the playing to hard. I have been working on the soft touch since we left Dallas and it has improved my tone and overtones. Our little wiener dog Oscar was a little upset with us leaving him at the boarding vet. LOL He's my little buddy. He was depressed for two days. Please thank Joanie for all the hard work and great singing. Cannot wait till next year. Jeff, Gloria and Ray were super great and I sure love my new Showpro. If was sure good to see Hank and have him play in the room on Friday. Safe travels and God bless. _________________ ShowPro SD10, Mullens RP, Bose S1 Pro, GK MB200, MB500, Bugera T50 Tube amp with SlidgeRig, TC HOF reverb effect. |

Sitting at the feet of Mike Johnson was the highlight of my trip to the steel show at Dallas. And his excellent helpmate, Joanie, put the seminar well over the top! Each of you seem so at home with your chosen instrument. Being with you two was inspiring as well as challenging. Thanks for all y'all did to provide an excellent experience for those who attended. Hope our paths cross again & soon! |

Mike, My wife and I listened to your CD with Joanie,Your Brother and Gene Watson all the way home and really like your arrangements on everything and found nothing that we disliked about the whole CD. First time for us to see you live and it was ourstanding to us. We have listened to your playing for a long time from Mel Street to Bill Anderson and on Recordings like Brad Pasley's.I sure liked Sid Hudson's guitar playing too. We hope to see you again next year. Nice to meet you and Joanie in the lobby. Mike and Joanie are two of the nicest folk in the steel guitar world, whether at a steel show, in the hotel, or simply running into them walking down the street when you least expect to see them. I'm so glad that they are becoming a greater part of the steel show family. They're top shelf musicians and friends. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.
Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? |

Mike
I hope you can do another seminar next year. The Thursday before the weekend proper was a great experience. I have listened to the recording that I made of the event, and find that so much of the information that you put out was very valuable to those of us who can only dream of achieving the level that you have. _________________ Show Pro D10 - amber (8+6), MSA D10 Legend XL Signature - redburst (9+6), Sho-Bud Pro 111 Custom (8+6), Emmons black Push-Pull D10 (8+5), Zum D10 (8x8), Hudson pedal resonator.
