I got the opportunity to play Fred's S10 3X4 in Dallas. I took a couple of pix while there and they are posted below. As you can see, it's a cool looking steel. Better yet, it plays as good as it looks. The pedals and knees are smooth, tone is great, it's stable and doesn't "walk" during play. The 2 and 1 changer works great as you aren't playing through a lot of metal. Given that you can add a 4th pedal, a vertical knee lever and split tuning...it's got a lot of potential for a steel priced at $1495. So, I decided to take the leap. I haven't had an easier choice in a long time. I ordered one on the spot. Decided on the same color pictured here with tuneable splits and the detachable arm rest.

Fred was right when he said it sounds like all of his other guitars. It's one fine sounding steel. Needless to say, Fred is a great guy to do business with and he is making some great steels. Now I will own a cool steel that, in the case, matches the weight of my amp(a cube 80XL). Packing in and out of gigs is about to get easier for me. Sometimes less is more.

I bought a black one from Fred at the Dallas show and am very pleased with it,,,it plays great, sounds great (relative to my playing...haha), and looks great. It was a prototype and has a wooden neck. It fills the bill for me...I was looking for light weight, and at 66, it was an early bd gift to me from me, as today is my bd. Anyway, I highly recommend Fred's guitars...he is a great guy and will do anything for you. Cant say enough good things about him and his steels.

Thanks for the compliment on the guitar ! I have been playing this about 6 hours a day since I got home and am enjoying it more all of the time. It really does play nice. I played it at a sr dance last night thru a roland cube 80 that a friend of mine let me use, and I think thats the combo for me ! So thats my next purchase for sure !
