Mike, why do you like your Bigsby better than your frypan. Or do you? |

I think Mike's Bigsby is really a Clinesmith (but don't tell it that). ![Wink](images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) |

Just back from Dallas.
I've always been partial to the Rickenbacher sound--I love the bakelite guitars, the fry pans, and even had a replica of a wooden fry pan with a Rick Aiello pickup that was just wonderful.
That said, Clinesmiths have all the qualities that I like about the Rickenbachers and more, including longer scale and a real depth in the sound. You can ask anyone who heard me playing it last night in the atrium of the DFW Sheraton through a Sarno preamp and Furlong cabinet--the sound was simply stunning. _________________ Links to streaming music, websites, YouTube: Links |

Yeah, I was a firsthand witness to that - it was great to see a lobby full of people there to hear pedal steel suddenly stop, Turn in their tracks, and walk over to enjoy that Clinesmith/Sarno V-8 (+Mike) demo...Everybody was asking about that steel.
I'm telling you, brad/mike sold me on one right there. As good as Mike sounded in his sets, that was the most glorious steel sound I'd ever heard - it really almost became a whole new instrument. Just one of those perfect matches of instrument / amp / player. _________________ '65 Sho-Bud D-10 Permanent • '54 Fender Dual-8 • Clinesmith T-8 • '38 Ric Bakelite • '92 Emmons D-10 Legrande II |

Wow-- So wish that I could have been there, to hear Mike and also to finally hear a Clinesmith in person! |
