From Billy Mata's Facebook page:
I just got word of the passing of legendary former Texas Playboy, Glynn Duncan, also little brother to Tommy Duncan. He would've been 92 this October. We will miss him, and I will still continue the fight for more recognition and tribute to his brother that's long over due. My thoughts and prayers go out to His wife Hazel, son Larry, and the rest of Duncan and Basham families. Now all the Duncan siblings are together once again.

As Bobby Koefer quoted the late Jimmy Wyble: "The Texas Playboys are like land...there isn't any more being made!"
I had the pleasure of meeting Glynn Duncan at a Seattle Western Swing POWS event back in 1990. He was a great man to visit with, and ALWAYS had a great story. Earl |

This is a great loss to me. Glynn was a dear friend and Brother in Music. We played together in the60's with the Jack Tucker Band at the Harmony Park Ballroom in Anaheim, Ca. We always stayed in touch over the years as recent as few months ago. My prayrs go out for Glynn and his family. _________________ Sacramento Western Swing Society Hall of Fame, 1992 |

I knew Glynn back in my old SoCal days too... The last time I saw him was over thirty years ago when he came into the Foothill Club one night. I didn't realize that he was as old as he was... I guess a lot of us are nearing the end now.. RIP Glynn...JH in Va. _________________ Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!! |
