At my age, seldom do I see something truly amazing anymore.

Well, that day has come again.

This little boy is 12 years old.

Knowledge of chords, substitute chords and how to improv over those chords and substitutes is a rare thing.

At 12 years old------- nonexistent until now.
I am told he lives in Europe and his Dad is a great player.

He is another of the European guitar phenoms influenced by Django, just like Bireli, Jimmy Rosenberg, Boulou Ferre--all kids who were monsters at the age of 12. Varady might be a bit more sophisticated harmonically, though! He's going on 16 now and he can flat out play!

Yea, how about that Sid. I highlighted him here http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=203094&highlight=andreas about a year ago! You might want to get a copy of that issue of Guitar Player mag.

wow - did anyone read the comments section on that video... what the heck has happened to music/musicians over the last decade?? I was busy playing and sort of dropped out of the general music scene... this seems to be the norm.

You're confusing musicians with "someone who sits behind a computer and posts negative comments on YT while telling the rest of the world he's a musician." That does not not resemble any musicians I know of.

Here's Jimmy Rosenberg when he was about the same age: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6OH6Kzl78mY

And Bireli Lagrene at about 13 (and he takes a bass solo, too!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgOHegxLGao

Wow Mike, I am glad I didn't hear these when I was young. I would have probably just quit.

Getting back to Andreas; makes you wonder just how good he is going to get.
