Hi, on the antiques roadshow tonight. A 1845 martin guitar owen by a lady who learned to play on it as did three of her children. Check it out.

I thought the condition of that old guitar, let alone the kids learn on it, was too much. The guitar looked great, I wanted to hear it. I thought it was worth more than they appraised it at.
I remember reading about a Martin found in a attic that still had the officers' papers from the civil war inside. Instead of saddle bags he used the guitar. The people found the guitar in their attic with his orders still in it. Amazing.

I just checked the PBS site and you can watch the show on line. Also you can go to the road show and click on just musical insturments and get the last 30 or so on guitar's etc.
Also the Richard Gere Guitar Collection video is worth watching with E.G. Smith playing on them as they talk about some of them and at about 18min he plays a 1943 Martin 00-21 that from the first note I wanted it.
