As posted on the sticky at the top of this forum's page....for the first time ever we will be webcasting the entire weekend Non Pedal Sessions from Dallas on March 8 & 9.....from 10am-6pm........to my knowledge this is a first in the the steel guitar world.....and we're happy to bring the roots of steel guitar world wide.....from New Jersey to New Zealand......

Here's who you'll be able to see in real time concert:

Billy Robinson, Carco Clave, Doug Jernigan, Herb Steiner, Lynn Owsley Mike Neer, Rose Sinclair, Tony Locke, Jim Evans, Dewitt "Scotty" Scott, Chuck Lettes, Mark Roeder & Kristy Larson, Albert Talley, Dan Tyack, Ivan Reddington, Bob Blair, The Cajun Boys, Carroll Benoit & Friends with Eddie Ortego.....and of course there will be more. Every year we also have an All Star Band with three steel players, vocalists, and other solo players to be announced......

For the entire weekend of viewing this fantastic line up, we ask for a suggested minimum donation of $30 USD....and here's how this will work.....

Please send me an email through the Steel Guitar Forum (no PMs please) with your full name and where you are from.....I will then send you the paypal information to make your donation.....prior to the show I will email you your password to log on for the entire weekend show......those who have made a donation already, from Dec 10 'til now,.....your donation is good for this webcast and I will be contacting you.....

Thank you......

In what format will the streaming video be? I'd hate to pay $30 and then find out that my computer can't handle that format. Will it use Flash like YouTube? So if you can watch a YouTube video you should be able to watch the webcast...

Thanks!

I hope you will not reduce the frame rate like last years' videos.
On those videos you can not see the picking properly
because the speed of picking is higher than the resolution of the frame rate.

This year I have a new camcorder, the Canon Vixia HF G10.....I'll be shooting at 30 frames per second and recording the audio with an external Rode Videopro Mic....

Steve.....I'm new at this so off the top of my head I don't have the answer, but I will look up the format that I'll be streaming in and post the answer...in the meantime I'm using ustream.....I've tested receiving/viewing the live stream with my 6/7 year old HP PC and my girlfriend's two year old Mac Pro.....and the live stream was fine......but I'll confirm the format......

Howard:

ustream is using Flash (like YouTube) and they do have a good help section on viewing their webcasts.

https://ustream.zendesk.com/forums/20634493-Viewing

It looks like it should work for most of us. Thanks

Yes Steve.....you're correct.....here's the response I received from Mrs. PJ Georgeboards. (George & PJ have been very, very helpful to me and I'm very appreciative)......

"Hi Howard,

Ustream uses Flash Player technology.

The best way for prospective viewers to see if they will be able to view the broadcast is to go to www.ustream.tv and see if they can watch any of the live programs available."

Wish I could be there, but a big thanks for doing the web stream! Maybe I can make it next year and bring some toys.

Email on its way.

From the "Above and Beyond The Call of Duty" department.....

This week I sent an email to Cath Alexander (Rick Alexander's widow) to let her know about our live streaming of the show and that I would be sending her a password to view the show.

Here was her response:

Thank you and Jeff and those who are keeping the Non Pedal Sessions going and for sending me the information about the live stream. I really enjoyed that a lot.

Rick so enjoyed planning those shows. I wish he could have kept going. I had never seen him so excited about anything before he found the steel community. It's probably not well-known how much he planned to contribute in the future.

And along with that Cath not only sent a donation for herself (certainly not necessary) but also sent additional funds for two other people who could "use the assistance."

Thank you Cath for being so supportive and I can only hope that we continue to honor Rick's memory by continuing to put on the best show possible.

We're down to 12 days before the show and the sands of time are quickly slipping by......please join us and support The Rick Alexander Non Pedal Sessions 2013.....this is the best fun that you can possibly have with your clothes on..... Whoa! Laughing

Hi Everyone - I'll have the schedule finished soon. There were some last minute changes. I also have to coordinate many players with the main room schedule so there are no conflicts in performers. It's going to be a great show this year! I hope everyone can join us in person or via the webcast. Where else can you get two full days of steel?! Smile

Howard and Jeff-
What about after the show?
It would work better for me if I could download the content rather than stream it- my connection will not allow for that much streaming in real time...also- there is no way the boss will let me sit all weekend and watch- too many things going on for that!

Maybe break it down into chunks by performer?

Will you make the content available for download also?
I have no problems with paying for the download.

Hi Jay.......

I understand and we're trying to cover all bases here for everyone....

In addition to the live stream (which is not being recorded), I will be video recording the entire show pretty much non-stop. After the show I will post video clips here in the non pedal section and I will also make and edit a video in length that will be on our website (which we will be improving, expanding, and updating as we have a lot of new ideas).

I'm packed and ready! - thanks again guys for all your efforts to keep this alive.

I want to send a shout-out to everyone here, even if you can't make it - please consider the possibility you will one year and the funding needs to be available to carry this through. This, to my knowledge, is all we non-peddlers have as a gathering of all styles of n-p steel guitar. Each year gets better and better - this will be THE steel gathering if we can support its cause.
