Just spoke to a friend today who told me he'd pulled something out of a closet I might be interested in - a double-neck lap? steel with the Kiesel name on it. I haven't seen it yet, but sounds like may be dark brown bakelite. He says one neck is 8, other is 10 string.
Does anyone know anything about this instrument?? I might try to buy it, but I have no idea whether it's worth having or how much it would be worth. Any information would be appreciated.
thanks,
Ken

Not only would that be a very rare bird but quite possibly unique. There are few 8 string Kiesel's (I had one), even less 10 stringers and maybe still less dbl. necks. So, that 8/10 may be the only one on our planet, and mine sounded pretty good. But pricing it? To me... just under 1K, only because it's so scarce, but as a player... you'll have to play and see what it's worth to you. That said, the market these days allows for any price to be asked for.

Lowell Kiesel was the found of Carvin Guitars. Their Carvin Museum contains ads for many of their Hawaiian guitars. They made single, double and triple neck guitars with any combination of strings you'd like.

I'd love to see pictures of such an early instrument. As Ron said, they're rare, but in my opinion, they're not considered particularly collectible.
