Hello,
I was wondering of anybody in here has an opinion on Anderwood guitars, from the UK... I searched the archives and didn't see anything. Nor have I been able to find much online about them, aside from their website.
Any opinions on cheap Weissenborns appreciated, I am also semi-interested in Bediaz; as I am in looking to acquire something for less than $500 - I realize you get what you pay for, quality wise, and this is something I just intend to pick on, out on my deck. If I get serious about it I would then upgrade in the future. Anyway, so far this is looking like the winner: http://www.anderwoodguitars.com/products_TD_Series_weissenborn.php
Any comments on sub $500 Weissenborn style guitars appreciated, thanks!

They've just become available in the past few months as far as I can tell. The instruments appear to be typical Asian-made Weissenborn style instruments.
Expect a decent tone but not much volume. Plan on possibly spending money on replacement tuners, and maybe updating the bridge and nut. This particular model boasts a bone nut and bridge already, so that may not be necessary.
Unless Anderwood offers a case for this teardrop-shaped instrument, plan on buying a gig bag that may or may not really fit. _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel

My GeorgeBoards pretty much is exactly as Brad describes....nice tone, tuners are ugly but actually work just fine, maybe could benefit from a nut and bridge upgrade...workmanship looks fine from a couple of feet away (tiny details aren't perfectly done)....but it has a solid wood top and actually comes with a hard shell case, for under $500. And, as I said, nice Weissenborn-esque tone....I run very light strings (120lbs total tension), volume isn't huge, but I can keep up with an acoustic guitar just fine...I think you'd have to spend a bunch more to get a real improvement in the sound. _________________ https://www.lostsailorspdx.com

I recently got the Anderwood Lap Steel.
Their Website stated that This instrument are handcrafted from "the finest tone woods, hardware and electronics".
It also created the impression that this instrument was "handcrafted" in the UK.
What i received however was a piece of wood, fitted with nasty sounding pickups, with plastic chrome-covered hardware and finished of with a splotchy and uneven paint job.
Any way,lesson learned,never again |

Yeah, it's pretty much impossible to have a high quality, hand crafted Weissenborn made in the UK or USA and sell it for under $500 USD (or 500 GBP for that matter). You get what you pay for. _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel
