Anyone have a short list of single-space power amps that are good in a component system? I am using a single 15" black widow at 4 ohms. |

The best single space amp that I have ever had in a rack setup is the Tube Works 982 amp. It is the same as their 962 only in one space. The 962 is a two space onfiguration. |

Duane I am using the Telonics Stereo Power amp and it is a real beauty -- more power than you will ever need and weighs about 5lbs .. I am using BW 1501-4's as well.

Mr. George Seymour - Can you run a single 4 ohm speaker with the Velocity 300? |

Yes indeed you can. It is a stereo amp, 150 watts a channel/300 watts bridged
If you happen to do some research on this amp you'll find it has some solid state tube sound emulation. I use this in conjunction with the Revation preamp with very good results. _________________ Old Emmons D-10's & Wrap Resound 65, Standel amps!

GS - So with a single 4 ohm speaker - can you run it either 150 watts a channel or 300 watts bridged? Thanks for response. |

Yes you could. I'd bridge it. Huge amout of power!
I run two JBL D140's with open back cabinets stereo mode on the amp.
More than loud enough for any stage I'm on. This amp is not spoken about much
It is very good, surprisingly good in fact. _________________ Old Emmons D-10's & Wrap Resound 65, Standel amps!

Thanks! I've been reading the PDF manual and it looks like it's one of the best single space power amps available at a reasonable price. |

Stewart World 1.2 is a consideration and can be used one side or bridged. I have several and never had a problem but I think they weigh about 15 pounds but no fan just heat sinks and very quiet. |

I ended up going with an EV 7100, which is 100W/side into 4 ohms or 200W bridged into 8 ohms, class A-B. Not a huge jolt of power, but I must say, it is as quiet as can be. You could track or re-amp with this thing easy. I have it married up to an Evans pre and a Midiverb II. I am quite satisfied with the combination. |
