Came across an old Esquire 6 string. Looks something like an old 30s Regal.
Anybody have any history?
Thanks!

Found the guitar I was inquiring about. Exact match to this one but it has a sunburst finish and has Esquire with a Tophat symbol above it as a headstock logo.
Any body know what kind of pickup is under the pickup cover?
Thanks!

Digging a little deeper . Turns Out a company called Selmer made the Esquire amp and a Lap steel. They are based in England and appear to have been around since the 30's.
Any one heard of an early Selmer with a Body similar to a Kay and Recording King?

Michael,
Thanks much for posting this. I suspected it was made by Selmer because I saw a photo of the old matching amp. This confirms it. I understood Selmer was a British company that had a plant in US in Indiana until about 1939 ( I think the Company in UK changed names in the 40s). I guess Kay made these for them, not sure and it was labeled Esquire. Anyway I will put this in a file I keep with the old lap steel I have.
Mine is in mint condition with sunburst finish, original case ,and has original "black tape" pickup which looks like new.
Pictures are on another post.

Michael,
Forgot to ask. Was there a publication date on the catalogue?
Thanks!
