Hi everyone, I'm Blair. I've ordered a Peavey Super Slide and have a few questions since I've never played lap steel before. Been a guitar player for quite a while. I play a jazzish bluesy soft rock style. I am very interested in Sacred Steel. A few questions about tuning and strings. I'm wanting to d0 E7 or E9. I have a set of E9 pedal steel strings. D'Addario PS 490. Can I use the B D E G# B and E from that or will Pedal strings not work? I also thought about regular guitar strings tuned E A C# G B and E for a A9 tuning. Will either of those work or is another tuning beter for more chords. I also wonder about tuning Em7 and using my ring finger behind the slide bar to bend the G to a G#. Poor boy knee lever. Will using a keyboard stand work for a stand by itself or would I need to make a padded board to put on top of it. I'm sure these questions have been asked before, but I went back a several pages and couldn't find awnsers to my questions.
Any helpfull teaching quides I should get.
Thanks for your patience and time,
Blair |

Hi Blair,
Here is a link which has a pdf in it which shows which string gauges work for different tunings:

I use a keyboard stand with a piece of plywood, I just put a tie-dye sheet over top of it.
Have fun,
