I am having a friend make a cabinet for me to rehouse my AE200 evans amp (it has 2x8 speakers) into a 1x12 combo cabinet. What speakers would you recommend? I have been looking into eminence deltalites, but what other high power options are out there? |

Hey Ronald, Thanks for the link. The evans amp puts out 200 watts, so i would need something with more power than what weber makes. I love his speakers though. |

I suggest the Peavey 1203-4 ohm basket with the Black Widow SC Neodymium magnet. Here is the link from the Peavey website for the neo magnet;
http://www.peavey.com/products/browse.cfm/action/detail/item/116806/BWX(TM)%20SC%20Series%20NEO%20Magnet%20Structure.cfm
Here is the link for the 1203-4ohm replacement basket;
http://www.peavey.com/search.cfm?c=0&term=00560730
These two items can be assembled into a 1203-4 ohm complete 1203-4 ohm BW neodymium speaker.
You may order these items from our factory parts department or through your local authorized Peavey dealer. The part numbers are #00560730 for the replacement basket and #00560870 for the BW neodymium speaker. The power handling for this speaker is 350 watts continuous power and 700 watts of program power.

Thanks for the advice on the BW mike. How does the BW compare to a deltalite or kappalite by eminence? I am not sure of the ohmage of the evans combo but I can make an 8ohm speaker like you described by buying the 8ohm basket correct?
The speaker will be going into an open back cabinet if that makes any difference.... |

I couldn't tell you what the "voicing" difference would be between these the BW and the Eminence, because I have not had two of these in the same amplifier application. However, I do know that the BW will handle more power, plus there is that extra advantage of simply replacing the speaker basket and not the complete speaker should a failure occur.
If you have questions, please feel free to contact me here at Peavey and I will be glad to assist. I can be reached at 1-877-732-8391, ext. 1180.

I use a 1501-4 with a neo magnet in a SE-200. It is awsome. Weighs only 42 lbs. Great tone and power to spare....Alan _________________ Mullen (Black) Pre G-2 9x7, B.L. 705 PUP's, Evans SE 200 Telonics NEO 15-4, BJS Bar, Peterson Strobo Flip, Steelers Choice Seat, Folgers Coffee and Hilton Pedals.

Jonathan, I have the AE200 head (1998, with spring reverb), which I use with a 1x12 cabinet housing an older EVM12L speaker. While heavy, it's a beautifully clean and accurate speaker and handles 200 watts, I believe. It's 8 ohms, although the AE200 wants to see 4 ohms. In practice, that means I have to turn it up to "3" rather than "2". I've also used a Weber Californian (80 watts) at times in the cabinet. I don't play that loudly, so blow-out hasn't been an issue. Good luck and please post pictures of your re-cabineted amp. I have thought about doing the same thing. |

I can't find the Neo Magnet on the Peavey site either...but they have them listed at Parts Express.
David...Peavey doesn't sell a 1501-4 with a Neo Magnet already installed. You neew to buy a 1501-4 Replacement Basket, a Neo Magnet and put them together (bolt on).
Regardless, I'm sure Peavey Parts can help with both. They can be reached Mon-Fri at 877-732-8391. You can e-mail at parts@peavey.com |
