I noticed that I have the compression springs for the crossbars missing on my pedals on my Emmons LG II. For what reason would someone take them off? How important are these springs? 6 springs are missing. Any advise would be appreciated. Billy _________________ 78 Emmons PP,Great tone.82 Emmons SKH #56 |

I'm at a loss Billy, why would a Legrand have compression springs? That is assuming you are talking about the ones like a push pull. _________________ Henry Matthews

Henry, I think Billy must be referring to the tension return springs attached to the front apron that hook to the pedal cranks, welded to the end of the cross bars. People sometimes remove these springs on both styles of Emmons guitars, as well as other brands. They were designed to be there for a reason, (as a return spring) so personally, I keep them in place. If I find they have been removed, I usually replace them. Some folks find that removing them improves pedal action but it's a very slight amount. A guitar that is set up properly will have great pedal action (with these return springs in place) but this is just my opinion. _________________ Best regards,

Must be Lynn, I've never seen those removed but see how you could but like you said, if it helped, it would be so small not worth it. _________________ Henry Matthews

I bought an Emmons LGIII late last year from a forum member who had removed the springs in question on the E9 pedals of the D10- they were included in the case- experimenting with and without, I like the pedal action without them, but the difference is admittedly subtle. |

I understand which springs you are talking about now. I always remove them on E9th. Every Emmons I've ever had I take them off. I have a P/P now that I took them off of. I don't like a spongy feeling pedal and to me. that's all they do. _________________ Henry Matthews

I Remove the crossbar springs off on my push pulls. It makes the pedal action feel better. I leave them on my LeGrande because without them, the pedal action is too light. I don't like it when the mere weight of my foot resting on the pedal actuates it. |

Went by Larry's and he gave me enough springs. So I'm gonna put them on and see if I like the pedal action better with or with out. Thanks Larry _________________ 78 Emmons PP,Great tone.82 Emmons SKH #56 |
