OK...in the buy & sell bOb mentions bagpipes so I figure I would post this. Every year I have a annual cookout where i do something a bit crazy and give a little speech.
This year I have a Roman Gladiator helmet and I figure I would make my enterence
with bagpipes. So, where can I get bagpipes that won't cost a fortune. I only want to make noise for about a minute.
I have way too much time on my hands

Um....After reading the DIY bagpipes it may be a bit to labor intensive. I have intil July to acquire bagpipes so I'll just keep looking.... |

Believe me, unless you practice hard between now and July, all you will make with the bagpipes is NOISE. Before they invest in a set of pipes, beginning players often buy a "doodle-sack". I think that's the name for it - similar to pipes, but not as complicated. _________________ 1974 Marlen S-12 1968 Tele 1969 Martin D-35H |

I'll I want to do is make noise for about a minute and march through my family & frinds at my cook out. I checked Ebay and I can get a set for $150 and then hang them on the wall after.
Last year I wore an war an idian war bonnet, beat a drum and made a toast in a God Father imitation. Anything for a few laughs and some fun.

That's all yer gonna get for $150 bucks. Those are Pakistani rosewood pipes that cost about $300 new and aren't good for anything but hanging on the wall.

Check with your local fire department....maybe there's a firefighter that's in a pipe band that might be able to "pipe you in" in exchange for some barbecued chicken and a few bucks. |

Dave Yustin gave those pakies more credit than I would. At best they would make poor fire wood.
I've piped for many years and believe me, like the steel guitar, it takes a lot of work to get anything out of them, they are very temperature sensitve.
I have two stands of pipes for sale, like new (heart attack ended my piping days) for $1,000.00 each.

guess that means no b0b, either, then . . . oh, well . . .
Len, have you checked your local Goodwill Store? BTW, I'm not sure that I would want to buy a used version of any instrument that played with the mouth. Just sayin' . . . _________________ "For every expert, there is an equal and opposite expert." -- Arthur C. Clarke |
