Our condolences to Tony's family & friends. I remember the Shrimpers playing the VFW in Sherman, TX and Julian Tharpe was the steel player. Julian took my reel-reel and taped an entire gig in the middle 60's.. what great memories that is. Julian on steel, Harlan Powell on Bass/Vocals, and Chuck Jennings on Guitar.. and I can't recall the drummer's name were a knocked out band.

The drummer was probably Freddie Bowman. The first time I worked with Tony, it was Freddie on drums, Harlan Powell on bass, and Chuck Jennings on guitar. That was 1968 or '69.

I worked with Tony in the late 60, early 70's. He was a hoot with his "Cuss Kitty" and all. I enjoyed my time as a "Shrimper". Had fun playing the Bobby Garrett composition "Shrimpsey" RIP my friend

Buddy, I remember Bill Mack talking about the CUSS KITTY. Tony in my mind is in heaven. He was truly a nice person. I lived in Athens in the early 80's. He would appear on a local country music show on Saturday afteroons.Just the other day I saw a photo of Tony, and in the photo was Junior. Junior, I hope you are OK. My heart goes to y'all.
