This guitar has been in the closet for several years and needs a good cleaning and polishing. The mechanics appear solid and fully functional. The tone and sustain is wonderful.
I'm not familiar with this system but was able to adjust a couple of the pulls correctly. Joe Turner suggested that it may be a "pull/release". Everything seemed to be engineered well. I would describe the system as "floating" , where you balance the adjustments/tuning between the tuning machines and the spring adj at the changer.
I think someone with knowledge of these guitars could have this gtr cleaned and adjusted in no time, but not being familiar, I'll let someone figure it out.
I do believe, however, this guitar would be a better instrument, even for a beginner, than any of the "beginner or "starter guitars out there, since it would offer more options re set-up, and the tone and sustain is excellent!
