One of those stupid "buy it at Amazon" notices I see. Have submitted a supported ticket; I very much doubt that the album their link points to has the same version of "Blue Hawaii" - presupposing it has it all, since Amazon does not list the tracks on its offering.
If all else fails, I'll remove the one song and upload it again - watch this space. |

i would imagine anything with words Bing Crosby is flagged...kind of like Disney w/Micky Mouse.
you could do like some of the jazz fake books i see - call it "Blu Hawai'i" _________________ '65 Sho-Bud D-10 Permanent • '54 Fender Dual-8 • Clinesmith T-8 • '38 Ric Bakelite • '92 Emmons D-10 Legrande II |

Jerome, not to worry - I did receive a reply from Mediafire. they didn't even know which file got flagged, so it's some bot that lives in the system redirecting to an automatically generated irritating "buy it on Amazon" page. I told them in no uncertain terms that all this material was ripped from sources off-catalog for literally decades, and that IMO to do this without notifying me, their paying customer, was really bad service. We'll see what they say next, and if it's just a matter of taking out the few Crosby tunes, I'll do it and re-post. |

Hi Mike,
I tried to download the Andi Iona collection, that's the message I am getting:
This file is temporarily unavailable because there are no resources available under the owner’s account.

Hi Sebastian, I noticed and told them I wasn't happy about that either. I also told them I'll be happy to jump ship to another host if they don't fix this quickly. |

Very cool Brad, thanks!
Still waiting for Mediafire to do their job right; meanwhile here's another:
all-star Hawaiian steel jam 1985 - featuring Jerry Byrd, Billy Hew Len, Keoki Lake, Barney Isaacs and others, accompaniment by Benny Kalama, Kalani Fernandes, and Hiram Olsen.
I debated whether or not to make this available as it is a recording of a private party; but the gentleman who recorded it encouraged me to share it. As with other live recordings, there are "?" titles, and I hope anyone who wants to fill in the blanks will do so and share the results.
PLEASE NOTE: the Andy Iona collection should be available again as I have just upgraded this account to increase my monthly bandwidth.

Thanks for posting, Mike! I wonder what the actual date of the party was, as Billy Hew Len passed in 1987. |

Good grief, that changes things, doesn't it? I'm gonna ask our faithful recordist ASAP.
Thanks for this Jeff, and for the titles as well - that was fast work! |

Hehe, nope. Same opening words though. I can't recall the proper title of it.
Ko'ula or Manowaiopuna is also a beautiful song. My favorite recording of it is by Genoa Keawe (Joe Custino on steel). |

Okay, my faithful recordist has responded, and I now have every reason to believe the "all-star Hawaiian steel jam" was 1985, not 1990. I will change the name of the link but don't think I'll bother re-uploading the file. |

Because Mediafire aren't responding to my requests to resolve this redirection to Amazon issue, I have posted the contentious file elsewhere:
Lani & Dick McIntire collection
Enjoy! |

No, this one. It is, in fact, called "Nani Wale No 'Oe."
http://www.huapala.org/nani/Nani_Wale_No_Oe.html
The authorship is unknown, but it was often performed by the Isaacs family.
This is what is commonly called a mele Hawai'i - or a song about Hawai'i. Each island can be identified poetically not by name, but by its most famous flower, its highest mountain peak, or some other unique attribute. In this case, each verse is about a different flower, therefore the action in each verse takes place on a different island. This may also be a reference to a philanderer who has a different lover in every port.

Now that we got the song titles, how about identifying the players for each track. |

When you listen to some of the tracks it is clear, just from the chatter before or after, who the player might be, but that's all I can provide I'm afraid Norman. I'll ask the recordist (is that even a real word?) if he can provide some clarification. |

Update: I have now re-uploaded the "all-star jam" with corrected date and updated title notes. I just edited the original link above, so nothing to add here.
Also added JUST the corrected title notes; you can get them here:
all-star Hawaiian steel jam 1985 - title notes
As for who played what, well - it was a long time ago, and what you see is what you get I'm afraid. My advice is just to listen, as a fair bit of it can be figured out. Art Ruymar for example played Kewalo Chimes and Maui Chimes.
Anyway glad it's being enjoyed. Goes well with a Mai-Tai I find.
