In your opinion, who performs the most moving "How Time Slips Away" that brings tears to your eyes? Willie Nelson? _________________ Sherman L. Willden
It is easy to play the steel guitar. Playing so that the audience finds it pleasing is the difficult act. |

It's entirely subjective. Willie wrote it, but I've heard it sung better. |

If you mean vocal cuts, I've always been partial to Narvel Felts' version. I think everybody and his brother has done it from country to pop to R&B. |

The very first cut I ever heard of it was in the early sixties by a young black singer named Jimmy Elledge... He did the best version I've ever heard to date..........JH in Va. _________________ Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!! |

in the end I'll take Willie's original version. the one with the steel guitar featured prominently (and beautifully): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSxFiM41u8s
is it Pete Drake? or Jimmy Day? (i should know this) _________________ 1965 Emmons S-10, 3x5 • Emmons LLIII D-10, 10x12 • JCH D-10, 10x12 • Beard MA-8 • Oahu Tonemaster |

Favorite version is from "Willie Nelson & Family Live," then the Willie Nelson/Ray Price combination on the "San Antonio Rose" album which featured the Big E. |

I was just hunting for something in my pile of old vinyl discs and ran across an old Tom Jones LP. His rendition of Funny is pretty soulful.
I'm still staying with Narvel as my favorite vocal cut though. |
