Joe, I too have a wine colored Deuce and I would be interested in seeing pics of your some day when you have time. Mine has split cabinets done in wine red with oxblood colored grille cloths. Real sweet amps Smile

Joe, here is a few pic of the Deuce I had rebuilt and split into head and speaker cabinets. All the work was done by Ray Walker and Ken Fox refurb'ed the chassis

Wow, VERY NICE! I like it. I am sold on these amps. Now I remember why I bought and hung onto this amp for all these years. I found my receipt for my Deuce. I bought it from my friend who owned a small music store in Cheektowaga, NY named U-Crest Music. The owner, Wally (Walter Pigeon believe it or not) is a great guy) and just retired this past summer. My Dad and I have been buying from him almost exclusively since 1982 up until this past summer.

In fact my Dad has the Gibson guitar dealer neon sign form the front window of his store in his bar in the basement now.

Anyway, I found my receipt from my red Deuce and I paid $250 for it and it was six years old as it is a 76 model and I bought it in 82. The best part about U-Crest Music and knowing the owner was he allowed my Dad and I to take anything we wanted from the store and pay on it monthly. As a kid in HS I thought this was the greatest thing ever. I would pay $50 a month and always had a nice amp and or a cool guitar etc. We never came home without something new. Those were the days...

When I was looking for a Deuce to scavenge parts to repair my red one I had called about one off Craigslist the guy wanted $300 for it. It does not have the BW speakers like the one I did end up getting had so he called me back yesterday and said he would take $250 for it. Now I am thinking about buying it just to have here on the stage for when we jam even though I do have my red Fender Frontman 212. However, compared to the Deuce, the Frontman just can not compete in any way shape or form. It almost seems like a practice amp or something now...

Joe, I bought that Deuce off of Ebay a few years ago for less than $200 and drove to Baltimore(30 miles) to pick it up to save on shipping. I have however spent a few buck in Ken restoring the chassis, and a new speaker and tolex, grille cloth, etc. Ray Walker made the head cabinet and we used the old amp cabinet for the 15" speaker cabinet. Ray simply made another baffle for the 15". Ken did an outstanding job on the refurb and Ray Walker, bless his soul, did a fantastic job on the cabinets. I am sure going to miss Ken's fine work since he retired and Lord knows I miss my buddy Ray!! Thank you for your kind comments. Is a very nice tribute to some very fine craftmen.

Wow, what great story and tribute to some awesome folks!

I am convinced this series amp is the best kept secret ever in the amp world! To think these amps can be had on Craigslist this very day for $300 is simply amazing in my opinion! I've had Fender Twins, black face, silver face and these Peavey absolutely blow them away!
