I am getting my new GFI soon (fromSteelguitarsofCanada) and I was wondering what you GFI players out there like to use for strings on you guitar. I read on their website that they use SIT stainless on there guitars as they ship them out. Has anyone experimented and found a certain type that shines the best. |

One thing I will say about SIT's is that I've had the same set on my MSA classic now for too long and havent broken a string since I put them on in January. And I've been doing alot of playing. |

I use SIT and GHS stainless. One thing I do to help they restring is back off the tuner nut on the third string about one full turn. This is something I found out about my GFI Ultra yours may vary. I change mine about every three months but I do not gig out. I play about 6 to 8 hours on the weekends _________________ ShowPro SD10, Mullens RP, Bose S1 Pro, GK MB200, MB500, Bugera T50 Tube amp with SlidgeRig, TC HOF reverb effect. |

No reason to think the GFI is anything special here, there are some long threads on this on the forum (search if you like)....stainless would be a little brighter (and stay that way longer) wound strings vs. a little mellower for nickel coated, if you use a stainless bar it will drag more on stainless strings...
I use GHS boomers on my guitars....used to use GHS stainless to brighten up a guitar with an alumitone that sounded a bit dark, but don't have that guitar any more. _________________ https://www.lostsailorspdx.com

I have an '09 Ultra D10. I use the Jagwire nickel wounds. I love that brand and the sound. I play thru Hilton VP, GeoL cables, Boss delay and either NV112 or Webb 614E,BJS bar.
What sounds good to your ears should be what you settle on imho. |

So far I have found the slightly top-heavy JagWire LG Series to get the most out of my GFI keyless.
The wound 6th string in that set means the pull-rods must be moved out a notch on the involved bellcranks for well-balanced throw and timing. |

We use GHS SS or George L's SS on my Wife's GFI Expo (not really different than an Ultra except appearance).
It really does not matter what brand is used, whatever you like. Everyone has their favorite strings and their reasons for their favorite strings. |
